  • Physical Description : The erecting of girders that were salvaged from a WW2 vintage aircraft hanger at CFS Ladner (Boundary Bay). They became part of the Cheam Centre that is still in use today (via Fred Fleck & Jim Harris). I believe this photo was in the Permanent Married Quarter (PMQ) area on Mitchell Gardens Boulevard near the Canex. It shows construction of the footprint of a Single Land Plane Hangar type building using Warren Trusses which was very common in that era for larger wood frame structures. You can see PMQs in the background. This building was used for community events such as Scouts, Cubs, Girl Guides, Flea Markets, Dances, Fundraisers etc (via Dave Shavalier).
